Obama Awarded Nobel Peace Prize
This morning we all woke to the news that Barack Obama has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I applaud him! Of course there are those that think he just got it because he is popular. Which is crap.

If you look at the 8 years we had with Bush, and even longer if you add his daddy's stint as president, we certianly as a nation were NOT pursuers of peace, nor of DIPLOMACY in any sense of the word.
When Obama took office he made a concerted effort, and is still making that effort, to mend fences and open lines of communication with ALL nations of the world.
Bravo!
Our president hasn't completed a YEAR in office and he is being criticized for NOT meeting his campaign promises. Give the guy a break. He walked into a mess of giagantic proportions left by the republicans who dog Obama at every turn. Who could fix all that in 6 months?
At least he is trying, and we need to be supportive and give him time to work through all the government bullshit, to build alliances within the government - ours and internationally - he needs time.

It is JUST a START
Let the Senate pass their pitiful excuse for a healthcare reform package... it is just a start! Just because they pass something everyone thinks is stupid and benefits the insurance companies more than anyone, it doesn't mean that something more can't be done.
People are complaining that Obama started off compromising. Ok, so what if he did? Once the process of recreating our sorry system is started, additional changes can be made, over and over, until we get the heathcare we deserve and need.
Personally I think Obama is doing the right thing. Let the conservatives have their little victory. Then, make more and more changes. A little at a time if need be.
It may seem like it takes longer, but in reality it may bring us closer to what we want and need sooner than a comprehensive package with many, many items that no one will agree on.

Duh...NFL
OK... we all have the idea that maybe sports jocks aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer... and maybe we know that if you hit your head really hard you will probably get a concussion. But, how stupid do you have to be to not realize that if you hit the head of a jock over and over throughout years of playing sports that they WON'T get dementia when they are old?! OR, that they won't get concussion upon concussion?

My Ideas for Healthcare Reform
I think the government should make some changes to Medicare and Medicaid to allow for more families and individuals to be covered.
1) Lower the age for enrollment into Medicare from 65 to 59.
2) Increase drug coverage for Medicare enrollees.
3) Increase the median income for those who apply for Medicaid. This would allow more people to enroll. Medicaid should offer 2 forms, like it does here in WA state... HMO or Open.
4) Allow people to select Medicaid or Medicare as their PUBLIC OPTION with a sliding fee scale for those whose income is above the guidelines for free coverage. Those who don't select Medicaid or Medicare should get a partial tax refund.
5) How would this be paid for? It is simple, a National Lottery!!! Why not? Sphere: Related Content

Our country is lead by a racist who is turning America into a fascist state.
That's what FOXNews's Glenn Beck is saying about President Obama, and that is the kind of fear mongering that will be honored later this month. Bud Norris, the mayor of Mount Vernon, Washington, plans to give the key to the city to Glenn Beck on September 26th.

Black Backlash
During Obama's campaign my husband (who is a black professional) stated that he belived there would be a backlash against blacks in America if Obama was elected. Neither one of us thought, at the beginning, that Obama had a chance... that is until Sarah Palin came on board the Republican ticket.
My husband felt that the white conservatives, and the crazy white supremesists would draw closer together in their beliefs and start a smear campaign against Obama. Which has happened.
He also believed that in everyday life blacks would face more overt racism. Which has happened.
Yesterday after Jimmy Carter's comments I heard a few conservative blacks discussing their beliefs that racism is NOT a factor in opposition to Obama and his policies. What planet are they on? Don't they understand that when they are not in the room with whites the whites say stuff that they would NEVER say in front of ANY black person.
Hey, I am white... I know! I am on the inside of two worlds. I hear what is said by whites and I hear what is said by blacks. See, black people are different from whites in that when they accept a white person into their world, they are open and honest about their feelings toward whites. They don't hide it like white folks do. On the other hand, when blacks are "accepted" into a white world, they are NEVER accepted into the secret feelings white people share with each other when no minorities are around. Any white person that says that isn't true is a liar and a fake.
Jimmy Carter had the guts to tell the truth.
And, my husband and I live the black life everyday.
Even one of my daughters has disowned me because I stand up to black people. She wasn't raised by me, she lived with her dad. He is a racist. She calls me a racist against my own race. How small. How narrow minded. How sad for me and the world.

I just can't stand it anymore! I have to say something about the racist attacks on President Obama! This morning Carter commented on the overt racism toward our President. Come ON people!!! What is wrong with you.
We all put up with 8 years of the most moronic president the world has ever seen... the "Bush Years". Sure, there are more evil men who have been the heads of government, but not one as stupid as GWB!
Did we hear the hate filled talk about him like we have heard against Obama? No!
We heard people say how stupid he was. Ok.
We heard people say he was a moron. Ok.
We even heard people say he screwed up the country. Yeah, Ok.
But, did we hear anyone claim he wasn't an American because he was so f-ing stupid?! NO!!
(Because we all KNOW Americans are the smartest people in the world, right?)
Damn!
I can't even stand to watch the news anymore. Everyday I hear some additional racist remarks from some conservative. PLUS, there are the "townhall" meetings where the entire evening is filled with lies and fear mongering against the President and his ideas.
Criminy! It is criminal!!
I am amazed that our government is getting anything done at all!
And the democrats? What are they doing? NOTHING!
Do they stand up for the President. Not really.
Do they rally against the back stabbing talk against Obama? Not really.
Do they tell the truth about healthcare, wallstreet, Obama's right to be President? Nope, not really.
How on earth can anything get done?
COME ON DEMOCRATS! GET WITH IT! STAND UP TO THE CONSERVATIVE BULLSHIT! STAND UP FOR THE PRESIDENT! STAND UP FOR THE TRUTH! STAND THE FUCK UP!
